The F-16 Fighting Falcon is the most successful fighter of its generation and soars above all others as the world’s standard.
Built in a consortium with four other NATO countries, this aircraft is the backbone of the U.S.A.F., and is a multirole fighting jet with speeds up to 1500 mph.
The F-16 is used in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attacks. Consisting of a single-engine, the aircraft is manned by a crew of one or two, depending on the model.
Designed as a lightweight, daytime fighter, the F-16 evolved into a successful multirole aircraft. The F-16's versatility is a paramount reason it has proven a
success on the export market, having been selected to serve in the air forces of 25 nations.
The F-16 is considered one of the best dogfighting aircraft ever produced because of its maneuverability and large size. The fighter is fitted with numerous
innovations including a frameless bubble canopy for better visibility, side-mounted control stick to ease control while under high g-forces, and reclined seat to
reduce the effect of g-forces on the pilot. The F-16 has an internal M61 Vulcan cannon and has 11 hardpoints for mounting various missiles, bombs and pods. It was also
the first fighter aircraft deliberately built to sustain 9-g turns. It has a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than one, providing power to climb and accelerate
vertically — if necessary.
More than 4,300 F-16s have been produced for 25 countries due to its extraordinary performance and reliability in national defense. To date, no other fighter comes
close to offering all its strengths.
